All places have a living and breathing spirit, the sum of their history expressed in the present. Believing this sense of place enjoys near universal sympathy, the GRCC is hosting our annual kick-off event to highlight this interest. The afternoon will include three parts: 1) we will introduce a calendar of the workshops our partners hold throughout the year; 2) we will introduce and seek input on a pilot project in partnership with The Stewardship Network and the Michigan Natural Features Inventory that explores the natural underpinnings of our sense of place and 3) a hike into the natural areas of HLG to illustrate the interplay between human disturbance and natural evolution.
This walk/hike will be mostly on-trail but with some uneven ground and rolling terrain – it is not wheelchair, walker, stroller, or wagon friendly. Wear hiking shoes or boots and dress for the weather. In the case of inclement weather, the walk/hike may be cancelled, postponed, or rescheduled.
*Registration is free and admittance to Hidden Lake Gardens is included*
